The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
~thank you for being my dad, thank you for caring for all my needs,
hallowed be thy name,
~you are so holy that even your name has power,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,
~heavenly father, I look forward to the day when everyone on earth puts YOUR will above OUR flesh, I trust YOUR will above my own, please help me to put YOUR will above my own so that earth is truly like heaven, a place filled with YOUR love,
Give us this day our daily bread,
~thank you for providing for all of us here on earth, you are a great and gracious God, help me to remember to provide for those who don't have as much because their having less is my opportunity to be more like you and share what you have given me and my family,
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,
~Lord (here I go into specific sins of mine) I know I am completely unworthy of you. Tell me, lead me, to know what I must do for those I have sinned against in order that I might be able to forgive myself for the harm I have done against them. Help me to overcome my flesh that I don't continue to sin against you. Help me to be open to your lessons (This is also where I pray for other who have hurt me with their actions) Please help me to forgive ______, help me to remember when I deal with him/her that it is not me that they are hurting, it is you and they do it out of some hurt in their past. It is not personal (although I might take it that way).
Lead us not into temptation,
~Help me to recognize and overcome my flesh when I wish to choose a way that is contrary to you and your word.
Deliver us from evil,
~Lord, I trust you and your angels to protect me and those I love from the evil that exists in this world. I know that you will not let me suffer without some good coming from it. Please take me in your hands, I turn myself and those I fear for and love over to YOU and trust you completely to keep us safe from the evils that exist in this world.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever,
~You are all powerful, you can do anything. You can do all these things I have asked of you, let me ask nothing of you that is not your will, help me to know you, trust you, feel your presence with me all the time, that I can carry your peace with me and share it with others, let me reflect you Lord, to the world, that in the darkness we are walking through, I can help be a guide for others to bring them to know the peace I have in knowing and loving you. I want to be a part of your kingdom, I want to be a part of your presence here on earth. For the sake of your son, who you sent to die to save me from sin.
